No matter how carefully I worded it, the genie kept refusing my wish to steer the comet into the Earth.
No amount of his begging could get around the fact that genies have no power over celestial bodies and he would have to find other ways to get the earth struck by a giant meteor.
"For my first wish, I want an asteroid!" "I JUST said you can wish for anything EXCEPT asteroids!" "Oh. Why?" "Because then it would call the whole existence of the Earth into question!" I gazed out into the void with the genie. "What's the Earth?"
Jim tried to ask the Genie for an world-killing asteroid, but the Genie said he couldn't do that and suggested a Whole New World instead. Jim's mom wondered, "Why would he want a whole new world?"
Peter's first wish was to stop the asteroid from hitting the earth. The genie from the lamp interpreted that to mean move the earth out of the path of the asteroid, thereby skipping an entire month out of the solar orbit.
The Genie knew how to stop that big ol' stinky asteroid from hitting Earth--he simply moved our planet along its axis out of the asteroid's path, causing a flurry of questions about what day of the year it was now.
